Be Proactive About Tick Exposure
Here at LymeAlert, we are a team of parents (pets and children) and outdoor enthusiasts who love spending time outside. Whether taking the dog for a walk, watching our kids play soccer, or going on a hike, we know that tick exposure can happen anywhere there is grass and trees.
A tick prevention and removal kit - which can be assembled at home - allows us to act quickly following outdoor activities.
Here are a few ideas and tools for building your own tick bite prevention, removal, and testing kit:
- Insect repellant
- Tall socks (light colored)
- Magnifying glass
- Hand mirror (to check hard to see places such as the back of your knees)
- Tweezers or tick removal card
- Sealable bag or container
- Alcohol wipes
- Permanent marker or pen
- Lint roller
- Portable tick test kit
One of the most important parts of prevention isn’t a thing or a tool. A thorough tick check - nooks and crannies included - is key to tick bite and Lyme disease prevention for the whole family. While ticks can be hard to spot and bites can still happen, showering after enjoying the outdoors and placing clothes in the dryer on high heat are also helpful ways to prevent ticks from taking a bite.
Our hope is that LymeAlert gives you additional peace of mind to enjoy the outdoors with confidence.
