LymeAlert took home first place at the Outside Ignite startup pitch competition. Held on May 28 at the Auraria Campus in Denver, Colorado, the event brought together eight finalists redefining the outdoor, health, and wellness industries. As summer rolls in and families across the Northeast soak up the sunshine, a hidden danger lurks in the grass and woods: ticks. These tiny insects aren’t just a nuisance; they can carry Lyme disease, a serious bacterial infection that can lead to detrimental, long-term health problems if left untreated.

Summer sun and blooming trails should inspire adventure, not worry. Yet, with Lyme disease cases rising and tick nymphs becoming more common every year, it is vital to be prepared before heading outdoors. Whether you are hiking deep woods, gardening, or sending kids to the park, use this actionable guide to stay safe from ticks.

Ticks are more than just a nuisance for dogs and outdoor pets—they pose serious health risks that can lead to chronic illness or even death. While many pet owners know ticks can carry Lyme disease, fewer realize the full spectrum of dangers ticks bring and the critical importance of prevention and early treatment.
